PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - The water is back on in Palestine according to city officials.
Palestine City Manager Michael Hornes confirmed Friday morning that water is available for home use and drinking. However, residents still need to boil water for at least three minutes before drinking.
Palestine Police Chief Andy Harvey reported drinking water will continue to be distributed on a “limited basis” at the Palestine mall until 6 p.m. Friday. The mall is located at 2000 South Loop 256.
Hornes said that electricity went out at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, which caused the main city water plant to stop working. It could no longer distribute water to the other plants in the city. This caused water levels to go too low, he said.
He said some parts of the city may still experience low water pressure in their homes and asked for residents to be patient while they work to get everything at the water plant back to normal capacity.
