Siren No. 9, at 112 W. Marshall Ave. in downtown Longview was found not to be operating incorrectly during the city’s most recent monthly siren test. Fire Chief J.P. Steelman said the siren is located in a business district with few residential properties. Some of those properties overlap with other sirens.

“Repairs are planned but will not be complete before Saturday’s weather event,” the city news release states.

The National Weather Service is predicting strong storms with threats of hail, flash flooding and possible tornadoes.
