First Alert Weather Day for Saturday-especially during the afternoon hours

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A strong upper-level disturbance along with a cold front will move through East Texas during the day on Saturday. A First Alert Weather Day is in effect for Saturday.

Very warm and unstable air will be in place as the disturbance moves overhead during the afternoon/evening hours. There is an ENHANCED Risk for strong to severe storms over a good portion of East Texas which means that there is a 30% chance for significant severe weather to occur. The remainder of East Texas is under a SLIGHT Risk for strong to severe storms ... 15% chance for significant severe storms.

All four severe weather risks will be in play. Isolated tornadoes, strong gusty thunderstorm winds, large hail (especially over northern areas of East Texas), and some flash flooding will be possible as the ground remains saturated from late weekends rainfall. 1.50″ to near 3.00″ of rain will be possible on Saturday alone.

We want all of you to be Weather Alert this Saturday. Make sure all batteries are charged and your severe weather plans are ready just in case.
