TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A Nashville singer/songwriter Gary Nicholson will give a masterclass Friday at Tyler Junior College. Texas native Gary Nicholson is one of Nashville’s most esteemed songwriters, producers and performers, with a list of credits that few others can match.
Nicholson is considered a musical renaissance man. He plays guitar, sings, writes songs and produces Grammy-winning albums. Nicholson’s style blends country, blues, rock, pop, folk, R&B and bluegrass.
His name appears on some 600 songs spanning multiple genres. Artists who have shared writing credits with Nicholson and/or recorded his songs include Garth Brooks, George Strait, George Jones, Marty Stuart, Emmylou Harris, the Dixie Chicks, Etta James, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, B.B. King, Robert Plant, Dave Edmunds and Michael McDonald – as well as TJC alumnus and Grammy-winner Will Jennings.
Nicholson’s mastercalls is at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, in Jean Browne Theatre on the TJC main campus. Admission is free and open to the public. Nicholson will discuss the songwriting process and the music business. It will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
