Marshall police: Man killed in overnight shooting, suspect arrested
Nate Irving was arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting

MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) - One man is dead and another is in custody after an overnight shooting in Marshall.

According to Marshall police, at about 11:35 p.m. Monday, they responded to the 1200 block of Elsie Street in reference to reported gunshots. Someone had reported there was possibly a victim to the department.

When officers arrived on scene they found a nurser performing CPR on a victim. Marshall police reported officers assisted with the life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Tyshun Darty, of Marshall, was transported to the hospital where he later died.

The Marshall Police Department then conducted an investigation and identified 20-year-old Nathan “Nate” Irving, of Marshall as the suspected shooter. They issued an arrest warrant against Irving, charging him with murder. He was taken into custody at about 10:06 a.m. Tuesday and taken to the Harrison County Jail. Irving was then booked and charged with murder.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Waskom police and Waskom ISD police are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
