PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - One person died and another was injured Thursday when the ATV they were riding rolled, partially ejecting them from the vehicle.

The Texas Department of Public Safety released a statement on the crash Friday.

Clint Waron Stephenson, 40, of Gary was killed in the crash. A passenger, identified as Kellie Lachelle Davis, 50, was injured in the crash.

According to a preliminary crash report, troopers responded to the scene of the crash at 4:53 p.m. Thursday on County Road 217, about two miles from Beckville.

Stephenson was driving a 2016 Polaris RZR and traveling south on County Road 217 at an unsafe speed when the vehicle left the west edge of the roadway, the report states. Stephenson overcorrected to the left and went into a side skid, causing the vehicle to roll to the right and partially eject Stephenson and Davis, DPS says.

Stephenson was pronounced dead by Judge Toni Hughes. His body was transported to Jimerson Lipsy Funeral Home in Carthage. Davis was transported to a Carthage hospital.

Stephenson was the owner and operator of Clint’s Barber Shop in Carthage and also served as a volunteer firefighter.

The crash remains under investigation.

Our prayers go out to the friends and family of Clint Stephenson! Clint was a former Carthage Firefighter and was always willing to step in to help those in need. RIP Clint! You will be missed by many!
