UPDATE: Power restored after equipment issue causes outage in Longview

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - UPDATE: SWEPCO says power has been restored to nearly 3,000 customers after an outage in Longview.

More than 2,000 people are without power in south Longview.

According to Southwestern Electric Power Company’s outage map, about 2,874 customers are without power at this time. Four outage cases have been reported in the area just north of Interstate 20.

The power is reportedly out at LeTourneau University’s campus.

According to Mark Robinson with SWEPCO, an equipment issue at their Whitney substation caused the outage. Crews are on scene working to fix the issue. Additional crews have been called and are arriving at the scene.

Robinson said the power should be restored in the next couple of hours.
