HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be on the lookout after a man was assaulted when he stopped to help a woman on the side of the road.
The sheriff’s office reported the incident occurred Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Sandy Lane and Smelley Road. The man had stopped to aid a woman with car troubles when two men came out the woods and attacked him. The Good Samaritan reported to the sheriff’s office the men hit him in the back of the head and later shot him in the foot.
The two men then fled in the car, which was not disabled, along with the woman, who officials say was in on the crime.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office believe the assault was part of an attempted robbery. They are searching for the three suspects involved. They are described as a white young woman with red hair, a white young man with red hair and a white young man with dark hair. They are believed to be traveling in a older model dark brown Crown Victoria.

They are asking anyone with information about the identities of the suspect or who had traveled along Smelley Road on Thursday to contact the sheriff’s office at 903-923-4000.
