TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Feeling okay? Many East Texans are fighting an illness that’s considered worse than a cold, but less severe than the flu. So what is it? Health professionals we talked to are simply calling it “the crud.”
Tyler pharmacist Sonny Krezdorn says ‘the crud’ could be anything from allergies to a viral infection.
“We’re seeing a lot of mucus, drainage, cough, congestion," Krezdorn said. "All of that in one.”
The illness has folks looking up and down the medicine aisle for relief. Krezdorn says more than anything you’re looking to manage your symptoms until your body can beat the illness.
“If it says cold and flu on the box, you’re going to see the combination of most all the products that you want in there,” Krezdorn said.
Krezdorn says despite “the crud” making the rounds, cases of the flu are down from last year. However, he says there’s still time left in the flu season and it’s not too late to get vaccinated.
“I actually have a motto,” Krezdorn said. “If you think you’ve got the cold, you’ve got allergies. If you think you’ve got the flu, you’ve got the cold. And if you think you’re going to die, you’ve got the flu.”
