EAST TEXAS, TX (KTRE) - During the practice period for the upcoming FLW Tour event at Sam Rayburn Reservoir, an RV owned by one of the professional anglers wound up in the lake after Bodi, his dalmatian, somehow managed to hit the brake and the reverse switch at the same time.
Joe Opager, a spokesman for Fishing League Worldwide, said that that the mishap with Eric Jackson’s RV occurred two days ago during the official practice period for the upcoming FLW Tour Event at Sam Rayburn Reservoir. At the time, Jackson was backing his boat down the boat ramp.
The incident was captured on video by several of his fellow anglers. It was posted on You Tube and Jackson’s Facebook page. In the video, the RV’s white backup lights come on, and Jackson can be seen scrambling out of the way as the RV and boat trailer start rolling back into the lake.
Somehow, Jackson manages to climb back into his RV and hit the brakes before it can go any further into the lake.
With the help of other fishermen, someone was able to drive the RV out of the lake. Other anglers went out onto Sam Rayburn Reservoir and rescued Jackson’s boat.
“Eric has taken this in stride as no people or dogs were hurt,” Opager said. “He says that he likes his new lake house.”
Opager added that Jackson is an amazing athlete who has won the World Freestyle Championship in kayaking four times.
