TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Three suspects in a robbery that occurred in the 4400 block South Broadway Avenue are now in custody after a brief foot chase, according to the Tyler Police Department.
According to a press release, a 21-year-old Tyler man approached a Tyler police officer in parking lot near the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Loop 323 at 2:42 p.m. and told him about the alleged robbery.
“The victim told the officer that he had just been beat to the ground and robbed of his belongings by three white male suspects who jumped him on the sidewalk in the 4400 block of S. Broadway,” the press release stated.
After the victim provided descriptions of the suspects, Tyler police officers flooded the area and found one suspect on foot near Winchester Street and South Donnybrook.
“A witness to the incident told officers that the two other suspects had ducked into the Subway located at Shelly Drive and S. Broadway,” the press release stated. “Officers located the two other suspects in subway who matched the description given by the victim and witness.”
After further investigation, all three suspects were arrested on sight, the press release stated.
The suspects and their charges include:
- Christian James Nichols, 18. of Elkhart - second-degree felony robbery and Class A misdemeanor evading arrest.
- Draven Ray Starr, 21, of Palestine - second-degree felony robbery.
- Scottie Lee Smart, 18, of Palestine - second-degree felony robbery.
According to the press release, the victim had just gotten off work after his first day on the job and was walking home. The victim was transported to U.T Health Center on Beckham by EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
