KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - Kilgore College held an open house for their new Faculty Innovation Center Friday.

The technology in the center will be used to interact with online students.

The Faculty Innovation Center features a TV recording studio, editing equipment, and a training/collaboration room.

School officials were excited about the opening.

“We’re all about student learning,” said Fred Peters, Project Three Director at Kilgore College. “It’s all about student success and we have the greatest technology to us, then we can assure success in our students.”

A grant for about 3 million dollars from the Department of Education title three grant went toward funding the Center, located in the Woodfin Center for Instructional Technology.

“The faculty is really excited about this,” Peters said. “We expected about 40 faculty members to train this summer and about 80 showed up for training. We want to make certain that our online students have just as much success as our face to face students."
