‘Do Not Use’ warning still in affect for Craft-Turney Water Supply customers

JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - The Craft-Turney Water Supply has issued an immediate do not use warning to some of its customers.
As of Thursday morning, the president of the company reported water is still not usable, meaning no one, including animals, can consume, bathe, wash clothing or have any kind of contact with the water. This also includes watering plants or using it for irrigation.
The company said the service area affected includes the south side of Loop 456 on the north border, County Road 1615 and 1616, including U.S. 69 South, on the west boundary, State Highway 207 on the east boundary, and FM 768 on the south boundary.

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality has told Craft-Turney Water Supply that an unknown contaminant has been found in the water. The company reported customers calling in with complaints of skin and eye irritation as well as a “very odd odor” coming from their water supply.
At this time, the company is supplying packs of water bottles for free to all their customers.
Wednesday night the company released the following statement:
Due to conditions which have occurred recently in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has instructed Craft-Turney Water Supply to issue a do not use the water order for the area as described below. This includes no human or animal consumption, no bathing, no cooking, no irrigating, etc. until further notice. Water sampling is being conducted and further information will be provided after sampling results are evaluated.
The service area affected includes the south side of Loop 456 on the north boundary, County Roads 1615 and 1616 (including US 69 South) on the west boundary, State Highway 204 on the east boundary, and FM 768 on the south boundary.
