Law enforcement seeks public’s help in finding missing Gilmer woman

GILMER, TX (KLTV)- Thirty-two-year-old Nikita Waldon, known as"Nikki" to her friends and family, was last seen in person on Sept. 13.

She was last seen over a week ago when her grandmother dropped her off in Gilmer. Her family says that when she didn’t answer her Facebook messages a few days later, they knew something was wrong.

“The longest she would go between checking messages was 24 hours and so this amount of time is ridiculous it never happened," Waldon’s friend Jessica Barnick said. "She always checks in and says, ‘I’m OK.’ ”

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said there is no direct evidence of foul play but Waldon is listed as a missing person in the national database.

“But all we’re hoping is, we know she’s made a bad choice and we just hope if she’s not ready to come home whatever she wants to do, if she’ll just call us and say Mawmaw I’m OK, quit worrying and I can handle it," Waldon’s grandmother Sandra Wilcox said.

Her family said they are searching for answers so Waldon’s three children will know she’s safe.

“She would never not check in on her kids. They are her world," Barnick said.

Waldon was last seen wearing a black blouse, denim shorts, and grey flip flops. She has several tattoos, including a tree on her left arm and a globe on her right calf that has the names Kensley and Journey on it.

Anyone with information about Waldon’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
