One of the Columbia's crew will forever be remembered at Coronado High School. The LISD school board voted Thursday morning to name Coronado's track and field after Columbia Pilot William C. McCool. The Coronado student council came up with the idea.

McCool graduated from Coronado in 1979. He and his six other crew members died in the Space Shuttle Columbia Tragedy. McCool ran on the track and cross country teams during his time at Coronado.

McCool still holds a school record for track.
