HAWKINS, TX (KLTV) - "Just torn up, my car is torn up," exclaimed Bridget Thompson of Hawkins.
She doesn't know who or what chewed its way.
"You can see the bite marks," she said. "Something with large teeth, very strong and very aggressive."
From the bottom of her SUV to under the hood where her kitty cat lay.
"Whatever it was, was trying to chew through everything to try and get to the cat," said "There's a paw print over there where it ate the cat food. I guess it almost ate our cat. We think the cat was kind of hiding right there where all the hair is. I think its something like a bobcat or cougar."
"Initial reaction to what I can see thus far [is that] this is it not going to be cheap," said Ben Shelton with Farmer's Insurance also Thompson's insurance agent. "The people that I work for often find it weird that East Texas generates a lot of unique claims. This is a prime example that once again the uniqueness that is East Texas has struck again!"
So, who does he think the culprit is?
"[A] Chupacabra," Shelton jokes. "Definitely. Yeah, some sort of evil demon monster!Definitely, resident only here in East Texas."
Oh yes, he has seen his share of crazy East Texas claims.
"I've actually had a bull attempt to perform reproductive acts with a truck but I've never had this," he looked back at the car. "I'm not going to sleep well tonight. I can tell you that. I probably won't sleep well again!"
And hopefully for Thompson, whatever got under her hood is gone for good.
