Campaign Cash Adding Up

Texas politicians are spending record amounts trying to get your vote. David Dewhurst and John Sharp have spent a combined $15 million in the race for Lt. Governor. The job only pays $7,200 a year. That means they've spent 500 times what they could earn in a four year term.

Rick Perry and Tony Sanchez have spent $80 million to be Governor. That works out to $6.41 per voter for Perry. Sanchez spent $16.02 per voter. Most of it went to television attack ads which have had a negative reception by many of those voters.
