TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Hungry East Texans came to Tyler Saturday afternoon to sample a nice bowl of red, chili that is.  The Rose City Chili Cook-Off kicked off Saturday morning.  Chili teams pulled out secret recipes and fired up their stoves.  Chef's sampled their work before the judges made their rounds with enthusiastic assistants standing by.  The event benefits the Humane Society of East Texas.

"Got some hot chili, got some sweet chili and everything in between, so everybody's out here enjoying the day and having a great time, and it goes for a great cause," said Humane Society of East Texas Executive Director Gayle Helms.  All money raised at the cook-off went to the Humane Society of East Texas.  Proceeds will help pay for vaccinations and animal housing.
