LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Mindy Hartman is a creative designer who just got back from the Oscars a couple of weeks ago. For this Longview resident, creating and designing eco-friendly purses is a passion.

"I see things that are trash to everybody else and I see possibilities in them I've done that my entire life," said Mindy. "Everything is different. It's a creative process. Each purse is different and it's absolutely a blast."

Mindy's web based company is Eco Purse Boutique. Her fashion career started in Los Angeles where she worked as a costumer on the hit show, Matlock, but it was her love for saving the environment that brought her back to East Texas.

"There's a lot of resources here," said Mindy. "So I thought I could take theses resources, create them into purses and it is so much fun. I can find all these treasures here buttons [and] beads. I love East Texas and I couldn't wait to get back!"

From old robes to placemats and bridal purses, Mindy uses these items to make Eco masterpieces. Her designs are so popular that she was picked to give them out at the Oscar pre-party. Dozens of stars, like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Shelia E., picked up Mindy's bags.

"I think what makes my purses different is the use of colors," said Mindy. "I contrast colors that people would never put together and they work and people like them and their attracted to them."

True fashionable East Texas Eco purses that shows one person's trash can be another person's treasure.
