Governor Visits East Texans One Last Time

Four days before the general election, political candidates are crossing the State of Texas to get out the vote. Governor Rick Perry made what would be his last East Texas campaign stop early Friday morning.

Perry and Lieutenant Governor Candidate David Dewhurst greeted well-wishers at All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler. The pair addressed a crowd of at least 400 high schoolers and parents, assuring them in the next four years improved healthcare for children and better education will be top priorities.

Perry's tour headed on to Texarkana the same day, and wraps up in West Texas.

    A Troup man is behind bars this morning after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child. Micah Gage Shelburn, 19, is currently in the Smith County Jail on charges of sexual assault of a child as well as kidnapping charges. KLTV reached out to the Arp Police Department. In the past year the East Texas Auto Theft Task Force has recovered around eight stolen vehicles in Tyler alone that were sold to citizens who thought they were purchasing legitimate trucks and cars.
