LONGVIEW, TX - An accused car burglar was caught Sunday night after police officers saw the suspect get out of his car and begin trying to open the doors of vehicles parked close by.

Longview police had been watching the shopping area on North Eastman Road closely because there had been an increase in car burglaries. They saw the suspect in action in the Hollywood Theater parking lot.

Officers stopped the subject and identified him as Bobby Glenn Bryant Jr, 32, and found that he had marijuana and Xanax with him.  Officers also found a purse in Bryant's vehicle and discovered that it was stolen during a car burglary that occurred earlier that day in Tyler.

Bryant was arrested and charged with burglary of a motor vehicle (Class A misdemeanor), possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor) and theft (State jail felony).
