East Texas pedestrian killed after driver falls asleep behind the wheel

WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas driver falls asleep behind the wheel and strikes a pedestrian.  It happened early Saturday morning on Highway 110, just south of Whitehouse.

DPS Troopers say the driver, identified as Logan Taylor Newton of Whitehouse, fell asleep and ended up driving on the shoulder.  He then hit Geffrey Parcell, 15 and killed him.  Parcell, a Whitehouse High School student, died at the scene.  Troopers say the speed limit on Hwy 110 is 65 mph.
