Pregnant woman killed in bizarre accident

CAMP COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Police in Camp County are searching for a truck involved in a bizarre traffic accident that has claimed the life of an 18 year old pregnant woman.

The accident happened around 3pm yesterday on Highway 271 between Pittsburg and Mount Pleasant.

18 year old Allyssa Collins was traveling southbound, when a northbound scrap metal truck approached.

Somehow a scrap metal shard from the truck flew off and crashed through the windshield of Collins' car, killing her.

Collins and her mother were driving back from a doctor's appointment in Mt. Pleasent when the accident occured. Collins was six weeks pregnant.

The driver of the truck did not stop, and law enforcement is asking for the public's help from anyone who may have seen the incident.

Pittsburg Police and DPS troopers are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Camp County sheriff's office.
