EAST TEXAS - Imagine having to choose between buying toilet tissue and food. Such is the case for many people living in poverty.

Throughout March, PATH and AAA Sanitation are holding the first-ever "Great Potty Paper Pick-Up" toilet paper drive. Port-a-Potty collection sites will be located all over Tyler for the month-long event for those who wish to donate toilet tissue to this worthwhile cause.

The retired potty collection bins have been donated by AAA Sanitation and have been sanitized for the drive. The "pottys" are being decorated for the special occasion by civic and school groups from the Tyler area. The collection bins will be located at Broadway Square Mall, on the campuses of TJC and UT Tyler, as well as on the square in downtown Tyler and at the PATH office. Awards will be given to participating groups for their creativity and artistic abilities. The judges will present the trophies March 24th.

Volunteers are needed to join the "Potty Patrol" and help keep donations picked up at the various sites. Please call (903) 597-4044, ext. 117, to volunteer.

Potty paper donations will be distributed through PATH's emergency services program. For more information, call PATH at 903.597.4044, or visit the PATH website,
