EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The suspect captured after a high speed chase was the same man wanted in connection with Sunday's standoff at Town and Country Mobile Home Park in Smith County. Authorities have also arrested the suspect's girlfriend who was in the car with him.

The highspeed chase ended near Eagle's Bluff Country Club on Lake Palestine, near FM 346 and Doggett Road, where Toyle Coats and Whitney Muse were taken into custody, but not before Coats made one last escape attempt, jumping out of the jeep, over a fence, and into a nearby pasture.

The chase began on Highway 31 west with speeds well over 100 miles per hour.

Authorities tell us DPS troopers assisted several Smith County Deputies in the pursuit.
