JEWISH GROUP CRITICIZES CHEVROLET FOR SPONSORING 'WORSHIP' TOUR

The American Jewish Committee is objecting to Chevrolet's sponsorship of a concert tour featuring Michael W. Smith, Third Day and the Reverend Max Lucado (loo-KAY'-doh). Next month's 16-city tour is called "Chevrolet Presents: Come Together and Worship." But the committee's inter-religious adviser, Rabbi James Rudin, says the carmaker's sponsorship will divide people instead. Rudin says that in a pluralistic society, it's divisive to identify so closely with evangelical Christians. But the president of the Gospel Music Association, Frank Breeden, says Chevy's sponsorship is just good business. Noting that companies openly market to gay groups, Breeden wonders why Christians should be shunned.
