SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT CALLS FOR MANDATORY RELIGION CLASS

A Wisconsin school board president says a comparative religion class should be mandatory in public schools. In a memo to members of the Waukesha School Board, president William Domina said students need to understand world religions to avoid "sterotyping and misunderstandings that have been the basis for great human suffering." Domina also asked school administrators to examine how religion is taught in the district and determine whether it's feasible to add a required course in comparative religion.
