EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The anniversary card represents two happy marriages and a friendship that has lasted a lifetime. We've all heard of re-gifting, even if we don't admit to doing it, but one East Texas couple is proud to re-gift.

"Re-card, I guess," said Frances Cass. "I don't know."

For 31 years, Frances and Joe Cass of Tyler have been receiving and sending one anniversary card, with a new message every time.

"On the inside it says, 'Save this card and send it to us on our anniversary,' and she did, and then we did, and she did, and it's just gone back and forth," explained Frances.

Frances exchanges the card with her best friend Norma who lives in Josephine, Texas. It is a tradition, Frances said, she never imagined would last so long.

"It means a lot to me, you know our friendship means a lot to me, and it's good friendships can last that long," said Frances.

With limited space, however, the question is, will the card last as long?

"We've learned to say happy anniversary, we love you, or whatever," explained Frances. [We] make it quick because we are running out of space."

What does her husband think about all of this?

"well, I don't know," said Joe Cass. "I wasn't the one to pick it out. I'm just a long for the ride."

It is a ride that continues to go strong with no end in sight.

When asked who will get the card in the end, Frances said that they have not decided. Most likely her friend Norma, since she bought the card for her in the first place.
