Woman Arrested for Stalking Teacher

A former Longview school employee is jailed on stalking charges for harassing an area school teacher. 36 year old Gina Marie Phillips was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony stalking.

Phillips was recently fired from her custodial position at Pine Tree school and when her daughter received a failing grade, police say she began harassing the teacher.

Phillips allegedly followed the teacher around town, often challenging her to fight and blaming her for her child's failing grade. Police say she repeatedly harassed the teacher on campus, and even followed her home.

Authorities say the new anti stalking law allows police to intervene quickly. If convicted on the stalking charges, Phillips could face a punishment of between two and 10 years in prison.
