By Joan Hallmark - bio - email

East Texas (KLTV) In 1961, when TV news was covering the Bay Of Pigs Invasion and plans to go to the moon, Vern Dailey and Jerry Haynes were getting ready to launch a children's television show that would remain on the air for the next thirty-five years. Although audiences around the globe didn't see Dailey's face, he was director, producer, set builder, and puppeteer for the show. He did most of the voices and his puppets, Mr. Wiggly Worm, the Lollypops, The Knitwits, and especially Muffin, were universally loved by kids. The Mr. Peppermint Show" won numerous awards including the Emmy.

Now a resident of East Texas, Dailey brings Muffin and his other puppets back to life for benefit shows. His "Kid's Korner" cartoons in "The County Line" publication, is a favorite of young readers throughout East Texas.
