All Saints athletes sign with elite programs

Some athletes at All Saints are marching on and taking their game to the college world.

Two Trojans signed letters of intent Thursday. Ryan Riley will run track for the Texas Longhorns. Shelby Miller will foot it to TCU to play soccer next year.

A third athlete, did not sign, but Rachel Saunders proudly held on to her acceptance letter. Rachel did not sign a letter of intent because Ivy League schools do not give athletic scholarships.

Rachel will play soccer at Princeton.

"I've worked really hard academically," she said, "and when I made the choice to go to Princeton it was based on academics and I realized that soccer is something that I loved and I can't give up. So, I had to go play soccer. It's what I have to do. I love it.

"They have what I want to study, I want to go into nursing," Shelby Miller said on her decision to sign with TCU. "I loved the coaches, the coaching staff is great. I feel really comfortable with them. The girls, I spent time with them. Loved going to the games. You just have to have that fit."

For Ryan Riley, UT was an easy choice.

"I've been a Texas fan for as long as I can remember," he said. "It's just a huge honor to get the offer that I've gotten and I can't wait to get down there."
