Baby born with extra digits

It's extremely rare and pretty amazing. A was baby born with a case of polydactyly.

Three weeks ago Hubbard was born San Francisco's St. Luke's Hospital. His dad is the one who noticed his son was a little different. He has six perfect fingers on each hand and six perfect toes on each foot.

"Some family members have had six fingers, not completely developed. But not the toes. Imagine what sort of a pianist a twelve-fingered person would be," said Dr. Michael Treece, a pediatrician. "Imagine what sort of a flamenco guitarist, if nothing else, think of their typing skills."

The baby's father says he had nubs of sixth fingers removed as a child, as non-functional digits routinely are. But because these extra digits are functional, doctors say that they do not plan on removing them.
