The Family Research Council says a Christian physician, Dr. W. David Hager, "is the latest victim of religious profiling." Hager's proposed appointment to the Food and Drug Administration's advisory committee on women's reproductive health is opposed by groups like Planned Parenthood, which says Hager promotes "theological gynecology." Hager has helped the Christian Medical Association petition the F-D-A to review hazards posed by the abortion drug R-U-486. Opponents say he also recommends prayer and Bible reading for patients with premenstrual syndrome. The Family Research Council says Hager is a much-honored physician whose opposition to abortion and faith in the healing power of Jesus Christ shouldn't make him ineligible to serve on the F-D-A panel.
