The 5th Annual Nacogdoches Kid Fish is set to begin this Saturday, January 31st from 9a.m. until 2p.m. at Lakeside Park Pond located at 4800 Pearl Street.
Every year, the State Parks and Wildlife Department stocks Lakeside Park Pond with over 700 Rainbow Trout to help promote this event and the enjoyment of fishing in general. In 2004, the Parks and Wildlife Department approached the City of Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation Department about the idea of hosting the event. Thus, the "Nacogdoches Kid Fish" was born.
The Kid Fish is open to kids 16 and under and prizes will be awarded for largest string, largest trout, and smallest trout. Drawings will be held throughout the day for many other prizes that you must be present to win. The many sponsors and members of the Coastal Conservation Association will be on hand to give away free t-shirts and hot dogs. The Nacogdoches Bass Club, SFA's Bass Club and Doug James with Executive Guide Service will lend their expertise to this year's event as well. Participants are asked to bring their own tackle. Bait will be provided as needed.
