GM's production halt in Shreveport could affect a Longview plant

General Motors Corp. said it will cut 2,000 jobs at plants in Michigan and Ohio, and it will halt production for several weeks at nine plants - including Shreveport - over the next six months due to slow sales.

Officials said the Shreveport GM assembly plant will be shutdown for an additional two weeks beginning March 30. That news has a potential impact on Longview's Dana Corp. Truck frame plant since much of the Longview plant's production supplies the Shreveport facility.
