Freedom Fighters: Jimmy "Pappy" Brown

Reported By Joan Hallmark

Because he was older at a the age of 35 than the men under him in Vietnam, Jimmy Brown was called "Pappy".

"Pappy's Raiders', as they were called, soon became known for their brave raids agains the enemy, but their success was not without cost. Many of the young men were killed in action and Brown was saved by his best friend who threw his body in front of Brown.

When Brown was captured by the Vietcong, a vision of his father, who had died when he was young, actually led Brown and his buddies to safety. Brown has told his story in his book "Pappy's Raiders" which is scheduled to be turned into a movie.
