ETBU hosts “Monday Night Football” coaching clinics

ETBU will host its annual spring football coaching clinics, "Monday Night Football," beginning Jan. 26 at the Carlisle-Howell Fieldhouse.

The clinics will be every Monday night through Feb. 23 and will run from 6-9 p.m.

ETBU head coach Mark Sartain and his staff will host the clinics for the third straight year, with different speakers scheduled each week. The lineup of speakers this year include a pair of state champion coaching staffs from Carthage and Daingerfield, as well as a state finalist in Longview.

Carthage won the 2008 Class 3A Division II state championship under the guidance of head coach Scott Surratt, who is a member of ETBU's Hall of Fame after a baseball career with the Tigers. Also scheduled for a night of speaking is head coach Barry Bowman and the staff of the reigning 2A Division II state champion Daingerfield Tigers.

Longview head coach John King and his staff will also speak during the clinics this year after leading the Lobos to the Class 4A Division I state finals this past season.

Sartain also said one session this spring will feature a special "East Texas Legends" night, featuring some of the most successful and influential coaches in East Texas football history.

The clinic is free of charge and a meal will be provided each night along with door prizes.

For more information, contact Sartain at 903-923-2188 or ETBU assistant coach Will Murchison at 903-923-2198.
