Hammond wins Ring Rulers MMA Championship

Tyler's Jeff Hammond is one man you want to on your side.

Friday night, Jeff proved his toughness by bringing home a mixed martial arts title. Jeff won the Ring Rulers 145 pound Division MMA Championship in Shreveport, competing against fighters from four other states.

Jeff competed in the 155 pound weight division for about a year. He said he used some negative Internet posts as motivation for his title match.

"All these different forum posts, they were saying, man that guy Jeff Hammond has no hands," he explained. "So I told my trainer, I want to beat this guy standing up. So that's when I went in there and did it. I almost dropped him a few times I never did though, but I pretty much beat him for three rounds. The underdog won."

Jeff said he will begin competing again in June.
