Longview Man Awarded MLK Humanitarian Award

It's a big week for a Longview man, honored with a prestigious award, and seeing the inauguration for a candidate he actively campaigned for to win. It's a week to remember for Eddie Towles, he and his wife were honored with the MLK humanitarian award on Saturday night, and Tuesday the candidate he worked so hard for, barak obama, will be sworn in as the next U.S. president.

"This has got to be not only an exciting week this has been one of the most exciting years in our lives" says Towles.

He was honored for his family's support of numerous Longview charities, something he says comes easy.

"Its possible for a mans dreams to be reached if he is honest if he'll work hard and he'll do things to help people , based on those things you can go a long way in life" he says.

The Towles business was turned into the Longview obama campaign headquarters, and they even endured vandalism from unknown sources to support their candidate.

"There is an element here still today who are against the movement of equalism you begin to realize that there are things in life that are so much more important, and I felt like standing up for the political process was more important believe it or not , than my business" Towles says.

For the Towles, its proof that life has its ups and downs, and dreams can happen.

"Magnificent to see what's happening and be a part of what's happening, this has been a tremendous year to be involved" he says.
