East Texas Regional Airport in Longview was one of five Texas airports that recived grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation for infrastructure improvments. The East Texas airport will recieve 3.1 million of the total 11.65 million dollars going to the Texas airports.

"Officials project that passenger air travel in the U.S. will double by 2015," said Senator Hutchison. "I am pleased the Department of Transportation has provided funding that will help Texas' airports keep up with this anticipated surge in capacity by investing in our infrastructure today."

According to the DOT, the four other airports that are recieving grants include the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, the San Angelo Regional Airport, the Midland International Airport, and the Laredo International Airport.
