Gideon wins Punt, Pass, Kick national title

More than three million kids compete in the NFL's Punt, Pass and Kick competition.

Only 32 make it to nationals.

Saturday night, Hallsville's Ronnie Gideon punted, passed and kicked his way to the national title.

Ronnie competed against three others during halftime of the Carolina Panthers game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Hallsville eighth grader won for the 14-15 age division.

Back home to Texas, KLTV 7 Sports talked to Ronnie about being the best in the United States.

''I've had some feelings like this but when you win nationals it's a really good feeling compared to what you feel when you win a championship to go to nationals."

Ronnie told KLTV he tried to block out the crowd of thousands watching him.

"I don't know what I was thinking, I was really focused on being accurate and straight."

Ronnie brought home a trophy and said he plans to compete again next year.
