SODA CANS DELETING 'UNDER GOD' WON'T BE BROUGHT BACK

Dr Pepper says it won't happen again.

After the September eleventh terrorist attacks, the soft drink maker distributed 41 (m) million cans featuring the Statue of Liberty under the wording "One Nation ... Indivisible." Left out of that extract from the Pledge of Allegiance were the words "under God."

Noting the resultant controversy, Dr Pepper has a message on its Web site defending what it calls "a resoundingly patriotic message that we are a united nation." But it says the can design was retired months ago and won't be used again.
