KISD drug testing

Kilgore ISD wants to make sure students invovled in extracurricular activities such as football and band are drug-free.

A new proposed district-wide policy will require drug tests for all 8th to 12th graders, before they can get involved with extra-curricular activities.

First violators will get a 30-day suspension, parent notification and drug counseling.

The second violation results in a one year suspension from all extra curricular activities, and the third time a student fails, they are banned from activities for good.

The drug tests will cost KISD $25,000 for the first year, with the money coming from grants.
