Make-A-Wish Celebrates Fourth Anniversary

An important birthday in Tyler.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrates four years in East Texas. The organization's Northeast region office is based in Tyler and covers 30 counties. Since 1998, the group has made 202 wishes come true for children with life threatening illnesses.

To commemorate their anniversary, Make-A-Wish held a birthday bash inside their new regional office in Tyler Town Center.

The space looks as if a kid dreamed it up. Offices are colored in bright shades, shag green carpet lines one of the floors and toys decorate every room. In the lobby, sits a gum ball machine.

"Many people pitched in and just transformed this area," says Jan Payne, regional development officer for Make-A-Wish. "People pitched in and just transformed this area into really what we like to see as a fantasy place, it's our wishing place."
