Bizarre plane accident injures two at Palestine Municipal Airport

PALESTINE (KLTV) - Two people are injured after a bizarre plane accident at an East Texas Airport.

Department of Public Safety Dispatchers told the incident happened around 4:15 Sunday afternoon at the Palestine Municipal Airport.

They said a 1966 Cessna 150 was being worked on by Virgil Fielden of Fairfield when the plane suddenly started. Fielden was struck when the plane began moving with a six-year-old girl still inside.

The plane reportedly moved down the airport property until it crashed into woods nearby.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration's office in Oklahoma City confirmed Monday that investigators will be looking into the incident and were on site shortly after the accident occurred Sunday night.

Fielden was taken to a Palestine hospital where he was treated and released. The six-year old girl was reportedly flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital in Dallas.
