Report: Lukfin’s McFarland Commits To OU

Lufkin's Jamarkus McFarland is one of the country's most sought after recruits.

LSU, USC, Notre Dame, Texas and Oklahoma are a few who have come calling.

After months of wondering where the defensive tackle would end up, the decision came sooner than later.

The New York Times reporting that just after midnight, Jamarkus made a verbal commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners.

The newspaper reports that when McFarland shared the news with Oklahoma defensive line coach Jackie Shipp, Shipp began screaming in excitement.

At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds McFarland is considered the state's top defensive player.

The The New York Times has written several stories on McFarland throughout the recruiting process.
