An East Texas church has resurrected an old way to help people get a meal as economic times get harder.
The Church of the Nazarene on Highway 80 in Gladewater, started a free soup kitchen last month. On Saturdays, volunteers make enough soup and cornbread now to feed about 50 people in need, especially those living at poverty level. With a gloomy economic forecast, they're bracing for more.
The soup kitchen is open Saturdays beginning at eleven in the morning.
