Trial Begins in a Tyler Murder

He's accused of killing an elderly Tyler man but it will be up to a jury to convict him.

Gregory Russeau is charged with killing 75 year old James Syverston at his auto repair business in Tyler back in May 2001.

Monday his trial began. Prosecutors outlined their case saying they have a complete timeline along with several witnesses linking Russeau to the crime.

They also have possible DNA evidence.

The defense says they can disprove the prosecutions claims.

They have a witness who disputes the prosecutions timeline. She's a woman who was found with Russeau in the victims car in longview the following day.

But prosecutors say that witness was also under the influence of crack cocaine and alcohol.
