It was a historic night for the Carthage Bulldogs.

In the last high school football game at Texas Stadium, the Bulldogs defeated the Celina Bobcats 49-37.

It is the first football championship in Bulldog history. Carthage denied the Bobcats their ninth school title.

Carthage trailed in the first after a Celina field goal but quickly took a 7-3 lead on a Dwight Smith touchdown.

Carthage would capitalize on an interception with another Dwight Smith touchdown in the second quarter. Celina battled back to take a 18-14 lead at halftime but in the second half Carthage would break away.
