The city of Longview is offering citizens a way to keep they're livestock warm this winter, and it's free.
Through donations, the Longview Environmental Health Department is offering several thousand pounds of hay, first come first serve. Animal control officers said the hay is really important if you have horses, pigs, even dogs and cats.
"When your animals get cold, they use twice as much of their body fat trying to stay warm. And by giving them a warm and dry place, that alleviates a lot of that problem and keeps you aware of the health and welfare of these animals," said Longview Animal Control officer Jackie Lynch.
The hay will be given out free on Friday and Saturday while supplies last. For times and locations, call Longview Animal Control.
